How it all began

Franklin was born in 1954 and brought up in London, being an avid reader from a young age his parents always knew where to find him, usually with his head buried in book at the local public library. It was whilst there that Franklin got inspired by the writings of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, with Franklin’s dream to model himself on this legendary character of Sherlock Holmes, the greatest detective that ‘never’ lived. This dream was obviously short lived but to this day Franklin has amassed quite a collection of Sherlock Holmes books and ephemera which he takes great pride in.

At the age of 17 having just left school, on one particular evening in 1971 Franklin happen to be watching ‘The Parkinson Show’ on television, where Michael Parkinson the chat show host introduced his guest for the evening Chan Canaster. Canaster, a mind magician, from Poland who exhibited some extraordinary psychological talents; he literally seemed to be able to read and influence the mind of members of the audience. When asked by Parkinson “whether it was true that he could make people do what he wanted them to do. Is it a trick or a gift?” Canaster replied “that it isn’t a trick but an aptitude and that he was well schooled in psychology.” Although Franklin never got to meet Chan Canaster, as he died in 1999 at the age of 79, this was Franklin’s first excursion into the world of Mind Magic and what the developed mind could do and so closely aligned to Franklin’s boyhood hero Sherlock Holmes.

Seeing Chan Canaster that evening on television, as he manipulated the thoughts of members of the audience, needless to say left a profound and indelible impression on Franklin’s mind. From that moment on Franklin knew he too wanted to emulate this gift, and had the burning desire to develop the natural abilities of his own mind. Franklin wanted to develop and finely tune his own mind in such a way that would set me apart from the average person with skills that he could utilise in the real world.

Franklin made it his goal to read every book available on Behavioural Science, Empowerment, Hypnotism, Memory Training, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Psychology, Subliminal Suggestion, Verbal and Non-verbal Communication, the list goes on.

Franklin’s love for learning and developing the mind has never stopped; he has given numerous motivational talks and is constantly called upon as a consultant to the media, always willing to demonstrate the unlimited power of the human mind. One newspaper put Franklin in a class of his own, and hailed him as the man who works miracles; although he claims his methods are psychological rather than psychic. Franklin emphatically denies there is anything psychic about his demonstrations, he says “It is only a question of extending the mind, everyone is born with these abilities – but most people don’t take the time to explore them, there is almost no limit to what you can put your mind to.”

To this date Franklin has been entertaining and fascinating audiences for over 30 years being given the opportunity to travel to many countries with his incredible act entitled ‘Journey to the Centre of the Mind’ demonstrating his talents as a psychological Mind Magician.
